Each region in Australia has a Carer Gateway service provider. This means that the person you talk to knows what support and services are available in the area.
National Carers Week – 10 to 16 October 2021
This week is National Carers Week.
A time to celebrate the immense dedication and extraordinary contribution of Australia’s 2.65 million carers.
Carers work quietly and lovingly without fanfare. Putting those they care for first. But caring for a loved one can be tough.
It’s important, especially during the pandemic to check in on carers around you and ensure they’re also taking care of themselves.
If you’re a carer there’s free support available for you at Carer Gateway. You can call 1800 422 737 or visit carergateway.gov.au
No two caring responsibilities are the same and we simply wouldn’t be the country we are without you. Thank you so much for everything you do.
National Carers Week aims to recognise and celebrate Australia’s 2.65 million carers for the dedication and contribution they make to our communities.

How can I get help?
From April 2020, the way you access carer support services is becoming easier, with the new Carer Gateway.
Am I a carer?
Anyone can be a carer.
Many people don’t see themselves as carers. They are just children, parents, partners or friends who care for someone close to them.
If you are a carer, you can get help and support from the government and other organisations.
