If you are an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person and you care for someone, you may be able to get:
- carer payments
- young carer payments
- family payments
- other payments available for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people (listed here)
ABSTUDY
This is a fortnightly payment if you are an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person who doesn’t get other government help.
You might be able to get this payment if you are an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person who is studying or doing an apprenticeship.

Assistance for Isolated Children Scheme
This is a payment to help with the extra study costs for your children.
You might be able to get this payment if your children can’t go to a state or public school because they:
- live in an isolated area
- have disability
- have special health needs

This is a yearly payment to help you move to, or from, a remote or regional area to study.
You might be able to get this payment if you get ABSTUDY, Youth Allowance or Energy Supplement and need to move for higher education study.
